Brighter Together Food Journey to Showcase Southern Alberta Food Processors & Producers

Aug 20, 2024

Lethbridge, AB…For the third consecutive year, the Lethbridge Brighter Together Food Journey will highlight how and
why Southern Alberta feeds the world. This year’s 2-day event will kick off with a networking reception this afternoon,
beginning at 4:00 P.M. in the Lakeview Salon at Lethbridge & District Exhibition, followed by the Food Journey taking place tomorrow morning and lasting throughout the day. The event will see attendees tour locations in Lethbridge and area to meet with business owners and operators that are food related. This year guests will be split into two groups with one group, hosted by Economic Development Lethbridge, visiting locations related to food & food processing, with a 2nd group of guests, hosted by Tourism Lethbridge, visiting agri-tourism locations in Lethbridge. The two groups will intersect throughout the day at various locations.

“The Brighter Together Food Journey is a great opportunity for our organization, Tourism Lethbridge along with Lethbridge & District Exhibition to collaborate and show off what’s happening here in Southern Alberta,” says Trevor Lewington, CEO, Economic Development Lethbridge. “McCain Foods is doubling the size of their facility in Lethbridge County, a new frozen storage facility has broken ground in Coaldale and Lethbridge area producers are thriving with some of the best growing conditions and technology in the world. We want to raise awareness of the success taking place in Canada’s Premier Food Corridor and invite food related companies that are expanding to consider our region as their next destination for growth.”

Stops this year include Epic Eggs, Prairie Hill Farms, Little Gem Winery, NewCold, Eureka Business Park, PepsiCo Foods
Canada (Taber), Herbal Apothecary, Broxburn Vegetables & Café, Festival Square, Bourbon and Butter, and Lethbridge
Polytechnic.

“We’ve found part of the power of this event isn’t just highlighting all that Lethbridge has to offer when it comes to food. Food is the connection that brings these folks together, but the conversations between those who join us for the event are just as important as the stops we make,” mentions, Dominika Wojcik, Senior Director, Communications, Tourism Lethbridge. “We have people from all levels of government, site selectors, agri-tourism, media & influencers, local businesses and organizations all joining us. With that mix of knowledge and creativity together for two days, the
relationships built by those on the bus are part of what makes the food journey a special event.”

The networking reception that takes place later today at Lethbridge & District Exhibition will highlight a variety of foods and ingredients from local farms and producers.

“With agriculture being such a huge part of life in Lethbridge and our region, this event allows us to continue to shine a light on just how important it is for our farmers and food related businesses,” says Kim Gallucci, Acting CEO, Lethbridge & District Exhibition. “We host numerous food related events including Ag Expo, the Lethbridge Farmers’ Market, the Brighter Together Food Journey and the upcoming Agri-Food Innovation Expo. So, we understand the role we play in helping the agriculture community come together in Southern Alberta.”

Media interested in interviews or comments are invited to Tecconnect, tomorrow morning between 8:00 – 8:30 A.M.
Members of Tourism Lethbridge and Economic Development Lethbridge will be available as will delegates joining the tour.
