YQL Pitch Sessions

Sep 25, 2016

Lethbridge - Lethbridge, AB… As part of the Food For Thought – Economic Trends & Industry Disruptions luncheon hosted by Economic Development Lethbridge, in partnership with Stringam LLP and BDC, EDL is pleased to also be hosting the YQL Pitch Session and Q&A with ‘Next Gen Den’ Dragon, Michael Hyatt. On Wednesday, September 28, four entrepreneurs will have the incredible opportunity to deliver their pitch and receive feedback from Michael. We will also be awarding a cash prize of $500 based on an audience vote.

“We continue to see increased interest and growth from entrepreneur-based businesses and recognize the value in creating opportunities for those entrepreneurs to connect with industry experts,” says EDL CEO Trevor Lewington. “So often innovation within a city is fuelled by the start-up up community. As we continue to work on tactics to move the Intelligent Community strategy forward, events like this are well aligned with enhancing the entrepreneurship and innovation opportunities in Lethbridge while adding to economic diversity in the region.”

The following four finalists will be making their pitch:

  • The Port Coworking Space: A coworking space in downtown Lethbridge, specifically designed to foster community, connections and networking while nurturing business and personal growth and development.
  • Shalda Clean Energy: A privately held company consisting of three business partners in Lethbridge formed to provide clean energy solutions for the Alberta and international markets.
  • Living Water Apparel: A clothing company committed to positive social change. Sales from every piece in their line creates an average of 800 litres of clean water every year.
  • Green the Desert: A world-changing company built on the model of people over profit. They are looking at ways to provide economic opportunity to refugees by working desert land into fruit-abundant oases through permaculture, which creates more land, water, and food for the people in that area.

This event is open to the public and free of charge, but we request an RSVP to Jaylene@chooselethbridge.ca by September 26. Media are invited to attend some or all of the session. Note: Michael Hyatt will be available for comment immediately following the Economic Trends and Industry Disruptions lunch (approximately 1:30 p.m.).
