2019 Economic Development Lethbridge Board of Directors Announced
Lethbridge, AB...The Board of Directors for Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) is pleased to announce the 2019 Board as confirmed at the Annual General Meeting held on March 20. The organization would like to announce that Jenn Schmidt-Rempel, Lethbridge Public Library Marketing & Social Media Manager, will serve as the Board President and Chair for a second one-year term in 2019.

“I am looking forward to continuing with Economic Development Lethbridge as Board President and Chair for a second term,” says Schmidt-Rempel. “Economic Development Lethbridge plays a key role in our city, as both a leader in economic development and setting the tone for positive growth. The EDL team builds positive and sustainable relationships in both the public and private sectors locally, provincially, nationally, and internationally for the benefit of our community, and as a result of their work companies choose Lethbridge as the place they want to be because it’s an excellent place to operate a business and offers employees an attractive quality of life.”

Economic Development Lethbridge is an arm’s length organization, supported by the City of Lethbridge, governed by a 25- member volunteer Board of Directors and managed by a team of professionals dedicated to promoting economic prosperity in Lethbridge. EDL Board Members are drawn from a diverse cross-section of the community with the intention of best accomplishing the mandate and objectives of the organization.

MEDIA RELEASE
In 2018, Board members provided guidance and leadership to many important initiatives including the development of a new four-year business plan for 2019 to 2022, continued regional partnerships to support investment attraction and entrepreneur development as well as finalizing the Brighter Together Lethbridge brand.
Economic Development Lethbridge was recognized with a Community Economic Development Award by Economic Developers Alberta as well as a Marketing Canada Award by the Economic Developers Association of Canada in 2018.
“This past year, we supported 8 new businesses choosing Lethbridge as their new location and assisted 7 existing local businesses to grow and expand.” says EDL CEO Trevor Lewington. “As stewards of the economic strategy for the city, we continue to emphasize the importance of collaboration to support and create the framework that builds a bright community, and the Board continues to be an integral part of that work.”
