Call out for Economic Development Lethbridge Board Members

Jan 5, 2018
As 2018 ramps up, Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) is looking for new members for its volunteer Board of Directors.

The 25-member board represents a diverse range of expertise, industries and interests in order to help connect EDL to the needs of the community it serves. For 2018, EDL is looking for board members with expertise in the agriculture, commercial and transportation sectors who are committed to building a vibrant community.

In the past, Board members have provided guidance and leadership to many important initiatives including the transition to the Lethbridge Destination Management Organization, Place-Brand Research as well as Team Lethbridge. Board members also contribute to the local entrepreneur community through mentorship and network opportunities connected to the Tecconnect centre for entrepreneurship and innovation. On occasion, Board members may attend conferences and participate in global volunteer missions related to their industry experience and expertise. Board members serve a two-year term with the option to extend their service for a second term as re-appointed by the Board.

“The board plays a pivotal role in providing leadership and creating a solid foundation for the organization to develop economic strategies and adapt to new opportunities,” said EDL Board Chair Bill Spenceley. “It’s a network of some of Lethbridge’s most dynamic personalities and a great way to serve the community in a meaningful way.”

“The EDL board provides critical advice and oversight to our organization so we can work to bring new enterprise and talent the city, while also helping existing businesses and entrepreneurs expand and grow,” said EDL CEO Trevor Lewington. “The next 12 months will be busy and exciting ones for our organization and this volunteer opportunity is a terrific way to help shape the future of EDL and the whole community.”

Interested candidates can submit their resume and a cover letter describing their interest in serving on the EDL Board by January 25, 2018 to info@chooselethbridge.ca. More information about this opportunity can be found on the EDL Website.
