2017 Economic Development Lethbridge Board of Directors Announced

Apr 3, 2017
The Board of Directors for Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) is pleased to announce the 2017 Board as confirmed at the Annual General Meeting held on March 21. The organization would like to announce that Bill Spenceley, President and Owner, Flexahopper Plastics, will serve as the new Board President and Chair for the 2017 term.

“I look forward to serving the Board in this capacity as we continue to provide leadership and guidance in formulating an effective economic strategy for the community,” says Spenceley. “Lethbridge continues to embrace a growing community of start-ups and local businesses and, as a business owner myself, it is tremendously important to remain connected to the growth of local enterprise.”

Economic Development Lethbridge is an arm’s length organization, supported by the City of Lethbridge, governed by a 25-member volunteer Board of Directors and managed by a team of professionals dedicated to promoting economic prosperity in Lethbridge. EDL Board Members are drawn from a diverse cross-section of the community with the intention of best accomplishing the mandate and objectives of the organization.

In 2016, Board members provided guidance and leadership to many important initiatives including the Destination Management Plan, Intelligent Community Strategy and the 2016-2019 Business Plan for the tecconnect centre for entrepreneurship and innovation.

“This past year, our board, partners and stakeholders contributed close to 4,200 hours of volunteer work to the organization,” says EDL CEO Trevor Lewington. “Partnerships and collaboration will continue to be a high-priority that helps us embrace the emerging opportunities that have potential for short- and long-term impact in the city and the region.”
