Lethbridge is proud to be home to two world - class post secondary institutions. Both the University of Lethbridge and Lethbridge Polytechnic offer students and learners the opportunity to acquire skills needed in an ever changing work environment. Over 3,000 graduates leave these institutions each year with certificates, diplomas and degrees, eager to start their careers. Retaining students is just one way as a community we provide access to an educated and skilled workforce for business and industry.
Lethbridge is an approved Rural Renewal Stream municipality. This means we can help approved Rural Renewal Stream businesses with their workforce needs by helping workers with their permanent residency and also approving international candidates for careers in our community. We also administer the Lethbridge Rural Entrepreneur Stream which helps identify entrepreneurs and business owners who may be considering Lethbridge for their operation or expansion. you can find out more about these programs on our Immigration page.
Through discussion, networking and collaboration, Economic Development Lethbridge strives to find new paths for both employers and employees in our community. We work with our partners to identify gaps in the workforce and then how can we best train or reskill our workforce with tools for success. Some of our successful initiatives include our work in recruiting medical professionals to Lethbridge, helping launch a transportation and logistics micro-credential locally and currently discussing how to aide or manufacturing sector with upskilling and robotics implementation.

EDL Labour Demand Tool
In our continued work to help Lethbridge region job seekers and businesses, Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) has added a labour demand tool to our workforce development resources.
This new digital tool uses Artificial Intelligence to scrape local and national job boards, selected by EDL, then list all current, and past job postings in several different formats.
The tool, allows job finders to find potential employment opportunities all in one place, and allows business and industry to analyze workforce needs and patterns for certain sectors and communities.
EDL Job Board
Using the same AI technology we have implemented for our Labour Demand Tool, EDL also offers a job board for local job seekers.
This tool scrapes the biggest national job posting websites and some of the more active local organizations looking for staff and adds them in one convenient location.
Job seekers can use this tool to help find local opportunities here in Lethbridge to aid them in their job search. Please note this job board is different from the Rural Renewal Stream Job Board which only includes open positions from approved Rural Renewal Stream Approved Employers.
