Economic Development Lethbridge AGM looks back on 2025

Lethbridge, AB… Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) last night at the Coast Hotel and Conference Centre. The evening gave the organization the opportunity to highlight much of the work they accomplished in 2025, a quick glimpse into what projects they will work on in 2026 and a way to say farewell to departing Board of Director members and welcome some new ones. The AGM was also attended by a delegation from Invest Quebec, who were in the community meeting with agri-food businesses and stakeholders to discuss opportunities for shared knowledge and future collaboration.


“EDL accomplished so much in 2025, and it was an honour to be at the helm as Board Chair & President, witnessing our Board of Directors and EDL staff continue to make Lethbridge a bright choice for investment, growth, knowledge, innovation and so much more,” says Charlene Scheffelmair, outgoing EDL Board Chair. “This past year saw the opening of the first of its kind Quantum Super Hub, right here in Lethbridge at Tecconnect, continued work on providing our community with valuable information with the Commercial Industrial Study, Lethbridge Region Goods Movement Study and the Lethbridge Trade Area Study. The organization accomplished a lot, and they should be proud of the work they do on behalf of our community.


EDL wishes to thank all departing Board of Director members, who have dedicated their time and knowledge to the betterment of our city and region. The Annual General Meeting is also a first introduction to the organization for new Board members. New Board members and roles include:

  • Robert Luco, Agriculture sector, taking over for John Ross
  • Mandy DeCocco – Kolebaba, Community & Social Services sector, taking over for Robin James
  • Nnamdi Chiadkobi, Environment sector, taking over for Shannon Frank
  • Jessica Joss, Financial & Professional Services sector
  • Gerry Saguin, Multicultural sector
  • Allison Purcell, Education sector, taking over for Tricia Doherty
  • Bev Thornton, Regional Economic Development Agencies sector

The AGM also saw Ed Limon take over as the new EDL Board of Directors Chair and President, adding to his role as representative in the Technology sector.


“I’m excited to work with such an amazing group of individuals over the next 12 months helping define how Economic Development Lethbridge can best serve our residents, businesses and entrepreneurs, and also drive investment into our city,” mentions Ed Limon, incoming EDL Board Chair & President. “Leading the Board of Directors in the search for a new CEO, working with the City of Lethbridge on their economic development strategy and setting up some organizational KPI’s are all big things we hope to accomplish this year.”


The AGM included a presentation of the organizations audited financial statement for 2026, updates on work being done in each of EDL’s 6 key pillars and special guest speaker Chris Perry, Owner, Perry Family Farms presented valuable information from a grower’s perspective on topics ranging from agriculture and renewable energy sources to his recent trip to Davos, Switzerland for the World Economic Forum.
