Lethbridge, AB… Canada’s Premier Food Corridor (CPFC) is a collaborative network of economic development professionals and municipalities committed to driving growth in Southern Alberta’s agri-food sector. Through strategic investment attraction and industry advocacy, we are fostering a thriving business environment for agri-food innovation and expansion. In a continuing effort of expanding their reach and working collaboratively with other municipalities focused on the agri-food sector, CPFC will be hosting a delegation from Invest Quebec over the next three days. The Québec delegation will include 10 companies specializing in processing automation and digitization—firms offering solutions that may be of direct interest to Alberta processors as they look to innovate, scale, and remain competitive.
“Southern Alberta is an absolute powerhouse in Canadian food manufacturing, and we are thrilled to bring Quebec’s top innovators in industrial automation directly to the region. ‘The Smart Line’ mission is all about building strong, lasting bridges between the East and the West,” says Maha Jendoubi, Economic Attache, Quebec satellite Office in Vancouver. “By combining Alberta’s massive production scale with Quebec’s specialized technological expertise, we are creating strategic partnerships that will make our domestic food supply chain more efficient, resilient, and globally competitive.”
While visiting, the delegation will visit several agrifood processors in and around Lethbridge. Stops will include Lamb Weston, Whole Leaf, Epic Eggs, NewCold and Little Gem Winery. Events also include business-to-business meetings with local processors delivered in a fast-paced format sure to be engaging at Tecconnect tomorrow afternoon where attendees will have the opportunity to speak with Southern Alberta agri-food businesses. Invest Quebec will also be special guests at the Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) Annual General Meeting tomorrow evening.
“This is a fantastic initiative, and we want to put our best foot forward showcasing the agri-food sector throughout Canada’s Premier Food Corridor,” says Sandra Dufresne, Cluster Development Manager, CPFC. “Both organizations, and businesses involved over the next few days have the chance to grow their networks, address common roadblocks and discuss how relationships like these, can lead to economic prosperity now and in the future. It’s a great first step in making interprovincial trade a priority between two provinces who pride themselves on their agri-food sectors.”
Media are invited to Tecconnect (3582 30th St. N, Lethbridge AB.), tomorrow between 1:15 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. for comment from CPFC staff.
