tecconnect - An Alberta centre for new commerce Introduced Along with First Client
Two important milestones are celebrated for the Lethbridge technology commercialization centre project. The centre, which is intended to expand the provincial Information Communications Technology (ICT) sector, diversify the area economy and provide entrepreneurial and employment opportunities in Southern Alberta celebrates its first event as tecconnect – An Alberta centre for new commerce. Together with its partners, Economic Development Lethbridge (EDL) reveals the new name, logo and brand for the centre.
The tecconnect name and logo, which was developed by EDL in consultation with student focus groups, business leaders and advisory panels, is intended to complement the existing ‘Choose Lethbridge’ brand and represent the opportunity for commercialization clients to connect with the geospatial imaging niche in this area and the potential to contribute to provincial growth in the ICT sector.
EDL also announces the first new technology company associated with the centre to locate in Lethbridge - InfoChip Systems Inc. "Lethbridge is a great community for InfoChip's employees to work and live. We’re an agile company in need of a technologically-savvy workforce,” said InfoChip Systems Inc. President and CEO Chris Gelowitz. “We hope to hire new graduates from the local University and College to support our growth. The new centre provides a unique environment for our employees to develop and support world-class products.”
