Labour Force Supports
Lethbridge’s stable economy and low unemployment rate, offer business owners a healthy labour market from which to secure skilled employees. Many Lethbridge employers have implemented leading-edge strategies and best practices to attract and retain qualified employees.
In 2006, Economic Development Lethbridge partnered with more than 25 organizations in and around Lethbridge, to support workforce initiatives in the face of substantial labour force shortages. In partnership with private and public sector organizations, the ‘You Belong Here’ Labour Force Initiative was launched to engage the whole community in finding solutions to labour force shortages. An estimated $750,000 value was brought to the community through this campaign.
During the next several years, EDL continues to work with community leaders, government and businesses to remove barriers in employee recruitment and ensure that Lethbridge maintains a readily available and skilled labour pool.
